What is a Tantra Expert? I Suppose at the Core We all Are!

Well, I am feeling mildly nervous, but at the same time fully prepared for my interview tomorrow with psychologist and relationship coach  Farhana Goga for the Ultimate Tantra Summit. It was very interesting seeing my name and picture along with other world renowned Tantra experts… the word expert evokes a variety of feelings in me…the definition: “A person who has a comprehensive and authoritative knowledge of or skill in a particular area.”

The one thing that bothers me about the word expert in relation to Tantra is that Tantra is a living breathing entity…it truly takes on a life of it’s own and I don’t think that any one person can truly carry a comprehensive enough knowledge in their minds to allow them to have an authoritative knowledge of or skill in Tantra…

When we use the word expert, we must also acknowledge the fact that Tantra, not unlike any other vast set of spiritual teachings is so grand and complex, that each of us who takes the time to gain enough knowledge and/or skill to become known as an expert is also a student…we are all students together…working to understand the true message that Tantra seeks to share with us. Of course I agree that Tantra lies dormant within…but our minds are cluttered, so the message is often lost beneath the critical thinking filter of our minds…

If the opportunity arises, I may discuss this with Farhana during my interview tomorrow…on the one hand, I fully embrace and understand that various spiritual teachings utilize the relationship between master/teacher/guru to allow a person or ‘student’ to give themselves completely with the utmost trust and faith…for many individuals this provides an opportunity for self-immersion…a complete shedding of ego and acceptance of the teaching the practitioner wishes to share….

Expert/teacher/guide/master/guru…we must remember these terms are all just words that we use in everyday life to explain the role of the giver…the giver of connection, compassion, verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, pleasure, guidance, healing, and in my humble opinion, the most important gift a Tantric giver can share is the gift of unconditional love…through giving unconditional love, we model the core of compassion, the core of connection, the core of our true nature…

I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts on this topics…but please send them in the form of a comment rather than an email so that we as a community can engage in a lively and colourful conversation!

    Dear Joy,

You are absolutely right to say that Tantra is a very dynamic yet experiential and a path rather than being just a science or faculty of knowledge. Like any other holistic system of living, Tantra imparts knowledge similar to other easter wisdom traditions in a live transference mode, where there is giving and receiving of experience, mutually enriching and sharing and journeying together along the path of bliss and ecstasy.

Once again, the rules of engagement of the tantric expert or guide or guru, are often so unique with each practitioner.

We have all experienced Joy as a very open, transparent, professional yet authentic healer and consultant as per eastern and western standards.

I am sure that you will contribute immensely to the tanta community of the world by participating many series of deabtes and interviews and discusions in future.

The above most appeals to me. I know little to nothing about the topic at hand, but have a voracious hunger for it. I’m not sure why, but that’s the case. I very much hope that one day I will be in the above position with you. Good luck on your interview.

I must admit…while I was writing my comment, the phrase self-immersion just popped into my head, but it’s kinda growing on me…two things on my mind this week…arousal therapy and self-immersion….hohum

I must admit that, in my experience with both male and female clients, i daresay that more males than females desire the full self-immersion approach…especially men with high stress jobs where they are required to make decisions and respond to needs in their professional lives…

On the other hand, although there have definitely been female clients who have taken a leap of faith with me and immersed themselves completely, the percentage is much lower…

I imagined, MO, that you would enjoy total immersion into Tantric trance…where you move beyond time and space and enter a state of both giving and receiving unconditional love, where you feel the positive power of sensual awakening, and are able to shed your inhibitions, yet allowing the space for my boundaries…

It is always so interesting to me when a man who regularly receives ‘erotic massages’ and expects to be disappointed by their session with me because of the boundaries in place….yet they walk away with a gift so much more magical than a ‘happy ending’…although it is a gift that takes many forms…so there are no words to adequately describe it…for that very reason, I also truly hope I am able to provide you with a Tantra session…the interview was a lot of fun, thank you!

Well I gotta say, you sure nailed me dead on with the “men with high stress jobs where they are required to make decisions and respond to needs in their professional lives.” You most certainly know your craft (not that there was any question of that to begin with!) and, apparently, me too. Which is incredibly impressive, as I am essentially just letters on a screen.

      1. Tantrachick says:

Thank you for your sweet compliments…no one here is just letters on a screen…there is a depth to the conversation that assists me in gaining a deeper understanding of who each person is….also, don’t forget my Hypnotherapy training….I pick up patterns that other might not notice, which according to my mom, is something I was born with…becoming a Hypnotherapist enhanced my ‘gift’…thank you for noticing:-)
